The Askeladden P79 weekend – a closed wheelhouse boat designed for comfortable day trips, weekend trips and overnight stays. We have addressed the shortcomings of the closed wheelhouse boats in this regard and improved the concept significantly with innovative design solutions. This boat is a real option for the traditional Day Cruiser customer who wants a closed roof and sliding aft door. The hulls of the traditional wheelhouse boats have generally been old-fashioned, flat bottomed, uncomfortable, and not very fuel efficient.

The Askeladden P79 weekend has received a completely new and modern hull with two steps, an integrated motor mount and deeper V-bottom, which makes the hull significantly more comfortable, removes most of the planing threshold, reduces the need for engine power, increases top speed and improves fuel economy.

The wheelhouse boats' aft deck solutions have not been very social friendly, lacked a canopy garage so that you can stow the canopy away when the sun is shining, had poor access to bathing platforms or completely lacked a proper bathing platform in the stern where you can sunbathe, swim and engage in water sports.

We have designed a modern stern deck from the C-Series for the Askeladden P79 weekend.

A large bathing platform that allows you to go from starboard to port, with a simple and ergonomic passage from the aft deck to the bathing platform, aft sofa with folding back and sunbed, sociable seating area, table and sunbed, canopy garage, water ski hook. Passenger comfort has previously been characterized by cramped and low seating areas, which have reduced comfort significantly when there were more than two passengers on board. The kitchenette solutions have been symbolic, and you have hardly even been able to make a cup of coffee there. Driver ergonomics have varied from acceptable to downright bad in the traditional wheelhouse boats.

In the new Askeladden P79 weekend, all passengers sit comfortably with a good overview. It is easy to prepare a simple meal and the driver is offered very good visibility and an ergonomically designed driver's environment.

Forward cabin, bunk and toilet space
Wheelhouse boats in this size class have traditionally lacked a closed forward cabin with a working door solution, had no bunk and had open or cramped toilet solutions which made the intended use of all these facilities both very limited and impractical. The forward cabins have often been dark and unpleasant without light from modern hull windows.

In the new P79 Weekend, the forward facilities are separated from the day room in the wheelhouse with a practical sliding door, the boat has a large and solid double berth forward and a twin berth with an extra berth. The cabins are bright and pleasant with light coming in from hull windows and the closed toilet space has enough space and ergonomics to function as intended.

The Askeladden P79 weekend performs better in all areas. Hull design comfort and fuel economy, aft deck solutions, wheelhouse comfort and operator ergonomics, galley solution, pilothouse and forward cabin are delineated, forward cabin bunk and toilet space.
